‘In Conversation with Peter Doig, Denzil Forrester, Matthew Higgs and Kurt Jackson’ was a massive success. Not only did it offer a fascinating insight to the work of four artist heavyweights, it also raised £500 for conservation charity Cornwall Wildlife Trust.
After ‘In Conversation’, began the preview for Denzil Forrester’s ‘From Trench Town to Porthtowan’ and Kurt Jackson’s ‘Seacrows’. The Jackson Foundation opened its doors to around 400 guests from around the country (and the world). Attendees included Head of Arts Council England Sir Nicholas Serota, Artist Danny Fox, Artist Stephen Chambers, Artist Curator Writer and Academic Eddie Chambers and Tate Britain director Alex Farquharson amongst the other notable figures in international art.
The highlight of the evening was a poetry reading by legendary poet and musician Linton Kwesi Johnson, the second living poet, and the only black poet, to be published in the Penguin Modern Classics series.
