In this fascinating talk, Britain’s leading expert on JMW Turner, Professor Sam Smiles, discusses the impact and legacy of Turner’s trips to the South West.
“The work Turner made when touring the South West reveals much about his methods and his ambitions for landscape painting at a particularly important moment in his career.” Sam Smiles, 2018.
This free event, hosted as part of the Kurt Jackson’s Revisiting Turner’s Tourism exhibition, will take place among Jackson’s own paintings which were created in response to those of Turner, and forms part of St Just’s Lafrowda Community Festival.
Please register your interest by emailing info@kurtjackson.com or through Eventbrite.
We hope to see you on the July 14th!
The talk is free and open to all, but we do encourage attendees to make a small donation (whatever you can afford) to the Lafrowda Festival via the collection bucket at the gallery on the day.
