Important Change of Policy – No Dogs Permitted in the Jackson Foundation Gallery from October 21st.
The Jackson Foundation welcomes tens of thousands of guests through our doors each year, and our friendly, inclusive approach focusses on ensuring the best possible experience for our visitors.
Since opening in 2015, the Jackson Foundation has had a policy welcoming well-behaved dogs on a lead and under close control – this policy worked without incident until recently.
The extraordinary post-pandemic rise in dog ownership has been reflected in the incredible increase in dogs accompanying their owners when visiting the Foundation.
Where, pre-2020 we might have expected a handful of dogs a week, as it stands, we are rarely without at least two dogs in at all times.
The sheer number of dogs, combined with increased incidents of poor behaviour on the part of owners and general concerns in protecting our visitors, our building and the art collection has meant that, unfortunately we have been forced to implement a no dog policy as of October 21st 2025.
We realise this will come as unwelcome news to many of you, but the situation has become untenable, and this change of policy reflects best industry practice, as well as ensuring the best experience for the vast majority of our guests.
We will of course continue to welcome registered, highly trained assistance dogs.
Thank you for understanding.
